VLC media player now for iPad

VLC is a free and versatile media player application, which is now available for iPad.

Apple products including Mac OS X, iPhone and iPad don’t support a lot of media file formats natively. For Mac users VLC has long been the savior as it plays pretty much any audio or video file you may come across. Now chances are that whatever movie or audio file you have come across you can play it on your iPad, and that’s welcome news indeed.

It requires iOS 3.2 or later and an iPhone version is apparently in development. You can grab it for free from the App Store.
